Need Crew? Check out Chicago Sailing

Chicago Sailing has established some programs to train crew members in a comprehensive and professional way, making them incredibly valuable to any boat they join. We are also assisting in the placement of these fully prepared on competitive area boats.  How can we connect with the members of the LM 36 fleet in order to support their goals?

These courses are designed to train/place premium crew members:

-Chicago Sailing's Spinnakers & Speed 422 is a 16-hour course that is all about maximizing sailboat speed in all conditions.  Sailors learn how to rig, trim and adjust all sails, including spinnakers, the most power and exhilarating of all sails. Chicago Sailing’s renowned racing staff will walk you through both the theory and practice that will make you a valuable crew member on any competitive boat.

Each sailor will master every crew position and function, learning not just the mechanics of efficient crew work, but the synergy or teamwork.  And because each maneuver is experienced in actual racing conditions, the results are immediate and profound.
                                                                                                -----

-Chicago Sailing's Introduction to Fleet Racing 404 is where good sailors become valuable crew members for competitive racing boats.  Clinics meet for three hours of on-the-water racing every Monday evening. Under the guidance of Chicago Sailing’s renowned racing staff, each team competes in a series of short, spirited fleet races.  After each race the team’s performance is evaluated, positions are rotated, and another race gets underway.

Introduction to Fleet Racing 404 is much more than skill training for individual positions.  It is the perfect opportunity for you to develop a firm sense of what it takes to support each teammate’s effort.  True teamwork is a winning formula for any boat.

Thinking of coming out? Make a summer out of it and join our One-Design Racing for the 105th Running of the Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac in July or the Verve Cup in August.   We will have OD starts for both events representing a great opportunity to learn the local conditions on Lake Michigan.  Visit the Chicago Yacht Club for more info.

Should you have any questions in the upcoming months, please do not hesitate to reach out and ask all your questions.  We look forward to seeing you all here in Chicago!
